Guild updates and Wrath News

After our successful merger with a small guild of RL friends and family, our GM announced in officer chat last night that we are officially at 25 regular raiders and will be working to schedule Gruul’s Lair within the next two weeks.

I’m really excited for seeing some new content, much less because of loot. I looked myself up on be imba the other day as saw that all my upgrades are to come from late T5 and above and that I am geared for late T6 already >.< So needless to say, I don’t need gear for a while (but I already knew that to be true from my research on priest gear).

It was interesting looking at be imba’s graphical representation of how the various raid dungeons relate to each other in terms of difficulty and gear rewards. They have ZA beginning at the end of T4 and lasting through late T5. Being that we have ZA now on early farm status (under 3 hour clears 3 weeks in a row) it just confirms my belief that once we get the coordination down in the early 25s we should breeze through T5.

That brings me to an exciting announcement about Wrath which is the buzz today: All raid instances will have a 10 and 25 man version!

As we are the premiere 10 man raiding guild on our server (Horde side at least) with multiple Kara teams and the only guild to have cleared ZA minus the top two 25 man guilds, I am very optimistic about this change. We have had Kara on farm for eight months and are just now planning 25 mans. If we had this change for T5 and T6 now we would be in Sunwell by now!

Of course the expansion will bring a reset for everyone and possible main character changes (possibly myself included). That plus the fact that we will be well into 25 man content by then may lead to us sticking to the 25 man versions. Of course with the announcement that the 10 mans will be on separate timers we will probably do both.

This is how I see the progression:

  • 10 man A team (mostly officers and raid leaders and the healer core) power through to a full clear of a 10 man raid.
  • Split the A team in two and have each half lead and teach two 10 man groups until they are clearing, gearing them up.
  • Combine the two teams once more and tackle the 25 man version.

Now that may be a little off since they said the 25 man versions would be a full tier above the 10 mans so the progression pattern may move through 2 or three ten mans before returning to the 25 man version of the first.

I’ll have more to say about the announcements after I get home and have a chance to read all the material (most of what I’ve heard comes from fellow bloggers as I can’t get to game sites from work).
